Mihail is a singer-songwriter, producer, and art lover born in a small, picturesque village in Moldavia, forged in the night life of Krakow and Berlin, now living in the heart of Transylvania – Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Amassing over 180 million streams and views across platforms, Mihail might just be one of the lucky few experimental artists that managed to enjoy mainstream success. With an eclectic sound, blending influences from pop and funk to alternative and electronica, he took the local scene by storm with multiple number one hits, before crossing borders into Italy, Spain and Poland. He landed a spot on the bill of the prestigious Vatican Christmas Concert, won the Sopot Festival Award (PL), went platinum and had the most air-played international hit in Italy, all this before retreating to a cabin in the woods for nine months to work on his debut album.
A self-taught musician, Mihail started studying piano at an early age, inspired by his mother and her passion for music. His 2015 single “Ma ucide ea” (“She’s killing me”) became a national sensation (over 90 million views on YouTube), topping the Romanian charts for weeks on end, becoming the second most air-played song of 2016. Growing weary of his newfound fame, he decided to focus on travelling, producing and rediscovering his true artistic identity. The result was “Who You Are”, an indie-pop anthem which also became Mihail’s first foray into the international music scene. The song topped both the Romanian and Italian music charts for months in a row, becoming the most air-played international single of 2018 in Italy and amassing over 19 million streams on Spotify to date, while also getting airplay in Poland and Spain and exposing him to a new and loyal fanbase.
“To Whom We Return”, Mihail’s debut album, was released in February 2023. Embracing a more experimental & multi-dimensional sound, “To Whom We Return” is an offering of a very personal 9 song collection, focusing mainly on spirituality & relationships. “Chosen One” was released as the first single, featuring an intense cinematic music video, while “Moon Talks”, the album’s second single, premiered during Mihail’s highly praised performance at Electric Castle – one of the best alternative festivals in Europe.
